U-shaped steel (full name: hot-rolled U-shaped steel for mining roadway support)
U-shaped steel is a type of steel with a cross-section resembling the English letter "U".
The latest standard is a national recommended standard issued in 2008 and implemented on April 1, 2009

U-shaped steel bracket
Main features: high pressure resistance, long support time, easy installation and deformation resistance.
Main uses: mainly used for secondary support of mine tunnels, mine tunnels, and support for mountain tunnels.
As the main type of steel used to manufacture compressible metal supports for tunnels, U-shaped steel is widely used both domestically and internationally.
However, due to inconsistent understanding of the performance and requirements of U-shaped steel itself, the cross-sectional shape, geometric parameters, and materials of U-shaped steel vary in different countries.
There are four main types of U-shaped steel produced in China: 18U, 25U, 29U, and 36U. The first two are products from the 1960s, which belong to the waist positioning; The latter two are products from the 1980s, which belong to ear positioning. U18 is currently rarely produced due to its low load-bearing capacity.
In GB/T 4697-2008, in addition to the four types of U-shaped steel mentioned above, a new model of 40U is added.

The model with a "Y" after it represents waist positioning.
