439 stainless steel is made by reducing the C content on the basis of ordinary ferritic materials (430), while adding stabilizing elements such as Ti, which improves the intergranular corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability of this steel grade. Compared with 304 steel grade, although its elongation is lower (about 30%), its strength and corrosion resistance are comparable, and its corrosion resistance is better than that of 200 series materials.
The domestic grade corresponding to 441 stainless steel is 022Cr18NbTi. 441 stainless steel is a type of ferritic stainless steel commonly used in automotive exhaust systems. The surface state at the time of leaving the factory is cold-rolled annealed solid solution, which can be divided into 2B and 2D. The density of 441 stainless steel is 7.75g/cm ³, the product thickness is generally 0.5-3.0mm, and the width is generally 1000-1260mm. Other sizes can also be customized according to customer needs.
In addition, the EU grade of 441 stainless steel is 1.4509. Compared to 300 series stainless steel, 441 stainless steel does not contain nickel and is therefore known as nickel saving stainless steel. It has high temperature oxidation resistance and good mechanical properties, and can partially replace 300 series stainless steel.
The ambient temperature of the manifold and front pipe of the automobile exhaust system can reach 750~900, and locally may reach 950, requiring high temperature performance of materials such as high temperature strength and high temperature fatigue performance. At present, the main ferritic stainless steels used for high-temperature applications are 429, 441, and 444. Japanese cars mainly use 429 and 444, while European and American cars mainly use 441.
441 stainless steel has good high temperature resistance and is generally used for exhaust manifold and front pipe parts. Baosteel 441 has been applied in BMW cars.
