Product Description
303 stainless steel belongs to austenitic easy cutting stainless steel, wear-resistant acid steel, and its chemical composition mainly includes:
Carbon (C): ≤ 0.15%
Silicon (Si): ≤ 1.00%
Manganese (Mn): ≤ 2.00%
Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.20%
Sulfur (S): ≥ 0.15% (sulfur addition helps improve its cutting performance)
Chromium (Cr): 17.00~19.00%
Nickel (Ni): 8.00~10.00%
Molybdenum (Mo): To improve performance, no more than 0.60% molybdenum can be added, but the content is usually ≤ 0.06%
These chemical components make 303 stainless steel have the following basic characteristics:
Good cutting performance: The addition of sulfur significantly improves its cutting speed and tool life. Good corrosion resistance: 303 stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance in mild environments. Excellent formability: It is easy to process into various shapes and sizes. Non magnetic: In annealed state, 303 stainless steel is non-magnetic.
Work hardening: It cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but can be work hardened by cold working.
2, Mechanical performance
The mechanical properties of 303 stainless steel are as follows:
Tensile strength: 515MPa
Yield strength: 205MPa
Elongation rate: 40%
Hardness: Standard hardness HRB is 90-100, HRC is 20-25
3, Processing and Welding
Processing: 303 stainless steel is easy to process and is particularly suitable for parts that require processing, grinding, or polishing. It is mainly used for automatic lathes, bolts, nuts, as well as aircraft accessories and fasteners.
Welding: The welding performance of 303 stainless steel is poor and may require filling rods and post weld annealing to maintain corrosion resistance. Therefore, special attention should be paid to selecting appropriate welding methods and parameters during welding.
