1, Naming and Standards
Naming interpretation: "S" represents structural steel, "500" represents a yield strength value of not less than 500MPa for thicknesses less than 16mm, and "C" represents the quality grade of the steel plate.
Execution standard: S500MC steel plate usually complies with European standard EN 10149-2.
2, Chemical composition
The chemical composition of S500MC steel plate mainly includes elements such as carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), as well as possible trace alloying elements such as niobium, vanadium, titanium, etc. The specific content range is as follows:
Carbon (C): 0.12%~0.20%. Carbon element can improve the strength and hardness of steel, but excessive carbon content can reduce the cold forming performance of steel.
Silicon (Si): 0.50%~1.60%. Silicon element can improve the strength and hardness of steel, and is beneficial for cold forming processing.
Manganese (Mn): 1.30%~1.80%. Manganese element can improve the strength and toughness of steel, and promote grain refinement.
Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.025%. High phosphorus content can increase the brittleness of steel and affect its cold forming performance.
Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.015%. Sulfur can make steel brittle, reducing its strength and toughness.
