Product Description

The letter L following the grade number, such as 304L, indicates that carbon content is limited to 0.03 percent (normal levels are 0.08 percent maximum and in some grades can be up to 0.15 percent maximum).In grade 304 stainless steel, the maximum carbon content is set at 0.08%, whereas grade 304L stainless steel has a maximum carbon content of 0.03%. This is why the "L" in 304L can be interpreted as meaning extra-low carbon.ASTM A312 is a specification for seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel pipes that perform well in high temperature and corrosive environments. The common grades for this specification are 304/304L and 316/316L.
