Product Description

45 # is a high-quality carbon structural steel, corresponding to Japanese standard S45C, American standard 1045, and German standard C45. Its characteristics are higher strength and deformation resistance compared to ordinary A3 steel.
Heat treatment process for quenching and tempering of 45 # (No.) steel and 40Cr steel
Quenching and tempering is a dual heat treatment of quenching and high-temperature tempering, which aims to give the workpiece good comprehensive mechanical properties.
There are two main types of quenched and tempered steel: carbon quenched and tempered steel and alloy quenched and tempered steel. Whether it is carbon steel or alloy steel, the carbon content control is relatively strict. If the carbon content is too high, although the strength of the quenched and tempered workpiece is high, the toughness is not enough. If the carbon content is too low, the toughness increases but the strength is insufficient. In order to achieve good comprehensive performance of quenched and tempered parts, the carbon content is generally controlled at 0.30-0.50%.
During quenching and tempering, it is required that the entire cross-section of the workpiece be thoroughly quenched to obtain a microstructure dominated by fine needle shaped quenched martensite. By high-temperature tempering, a microstructure dominated by uniformly tempered martensite is obtained. Small factories cannot conduct metallographic analysis on every furnace, usually only conducting hardness testing. This means that the hardness after quenching must reach the quenching hardness of the material, and the hardness after tempering should be checked according to the requirements of the drawing.
