The grades and classifications of aluminum alloys for aviation are as follows:
Hard aluminum. Aluminum magnesium copper alloys, such as 2024 ZA12,2017A, It has good strength, toughness, fatigue resistance, and plasticity, and is commonly used in the manufacturing of components such as skins, partitions, and ribs.
Ultra hard aluminum. Aluminum zinc magnesium copper alloys, such as 7075 and 7A09, have high strength limits and yield points, and can withstand large loads. They are used in the manufacturing of aircraft wing skin, beams, etc.
Anti rust aluminum alloy. Commonly used aluminum magnesium alloys such as 5A02, 5A06, and 5B05 have high corrosion and fatigue resistance, good plasticity and weldability, and are used in the manufacturing of mailboxes, oil pipes, etc.
Forged aluminum alloy. Like 6A02, it has high hardness and good corrosion resistance, and is used for manufacturing engine parts and joints.
Cast aluminum alloy. Small in weight, high in corrosion and heat resistance, used for manufacturing engine casings, etc.
Other commonly used brands. This also includes alloys such as 6061, 5052, 7040-T7651, 7449, 2027-T3511, 7085, etc., which are widely used in the aviation industry.
In addition, aluminum alloys can be further classified based on their different compositions and characteristics. For example, the 1XXX series represents pure aluminum, such as 1050 and 1100; The 2XXX series is made of aluminum copper alloy, such as 2014; The 3XXX series is made of aluminum manganese alloy, such as 3003; The 4XXX series is made of aluminum silicon alloy, such as 4032; The 5XXX series is made of aluminum magnesium alloy, such as 5052; The 6XXX series is made of aluminum magnesium silicon alloys, such as 6061 and 6063; The 7XXX series is made of aluminum zinc alloy, such as 7001; The 8XXX series represents other alloy systems. These classifications help to understand the different uses and characteristics of aluminum alloys.
